Lovebug was adopted as a puppy and recently returned. Nope, you're not imagining it! Lovebug is the exact same kind of dog in The Little Rascal's series! He lives up to his name 100%. Good with other dogs, and loves people. This is one of those dogs you meet and fall instantly in love with!

UPDATE 10/5/05: Lovebug just finished an 8 week training program at Davis correctional facility in Holdenville, Oklahoma, where he was affectionately referred to as "Herbie". Changing his name meant nothing to our Lovebug for you see he is deaf. This proved to be a particular tricky training method. The Pen Pal program "instructors" have been doing this for 4 classes now and have gotten very good at training these dogs in just 8 weeks because they spent 24 hours a day with them. Lovebug was no exception, he sits, downs, stays, stands and comes with hand signals. They would get his attention with flash lights! He learned how to open doors (with towels tied on the handles) and to turn on light switches. He was the class clown! He played well with the other dogs and got along with all the inmates. Lovebug would be a good addition to just about any family, he is housebroken and loving. Probably best with larger kids and dogs just because he is so exhuberant. Although he did play very well with another trainee who was a 10lb dachshund. To see more about Lovebugs training you can go to the Pen Pals website at Look for "Herbie". Lovebug is now at the Pets and People shelter just waiting for you to come meet him and take him for a walk!

Some of the pets' biographies have comments written about them such as "Litterbox Certified", "Housebroken", etc. A lack of comments on a pet's biography does not necessarily mean the pet lacks positive characteristics.  Since we rescue from kill-shelters, we have very little information about most of our pets.  For this reason, we offer a 7-day foster adopt program.  Take any pet home for up to 7 days and if it doesn't work out, receive a full refund of the adoption fee.  The pet may be exchanged at no additional cost up to 30 days.
